Tampereen Aluetaksi Oy was founded in 1990 and it continues the business of Tampereen Ulataksi Osuuskunta, which was founded as early as 1956 as a taxi reservation mediator in Tampere and its neighboring counties. Tampereen Aluetaksi Oy is owned solely by the areas individual taxi owners.

The most important functions of Tampereen Aluetaksi Oy are:

To answer for the marketing and contracts of the taxis
To arrange schooling of drivers
To uphold taxi inspector activity

Tampereen Aluetaksi Oy introduced computer-based taxi booking in July of 1991. During the years 1994 and 1995, the electronic money value system was utilised. The current 2nd generation taxi booking system was brought in to use in 2004. Regarding the mediation hardware, we cooperate with Elisa Oyj, Mobisoft Oy, Ebsolut Oy and Sunit corporations

The company's revenue is around 2m euros. We bill around 850.000 individual payments each year and the annual invoicing revenue is around 12m euros.

There are around 3 million taxi trips driven in the companys premises each year.
